For over 20 years, Achim has held leading positions in national and international higher education quality assurance.
He has been instrumental in developing quality assurance policy and approaches in the European Higher Education Area and beyond, and provided advice to ministries, universities, and quality assurance agencies in various regions in the world.
Services
The services focus on but are not limited to designing legislation, policies and systems for quality assurance and for CBHE; to support implementing these at national and at institutional levels.

Policy guidance on and development of quality assurance policies, legislation, and procedures.
Training/Review support
Training of higher education institutions and quality assurance agencies.
International review/evaluation
International review of higher education institutions and quality assurance agencies and systems.
Development of Cross-border Higher Education policies
Policy guidance on incoming and outgoing cross-border higher education (CBHE) and development of legislation and quality assurance and regulation procedures for CBHE.
Current Projects
1. Strengthening institutional capacities of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education in Azerbaijan (EU funding).
Achim is senior expert for accreditation and quality assurance in HE and VET, and for recognition of foreign qualifications.
2. Evaluation of the Quality Enhancement Framework 2 of the Quality Board for Icelandic Higher Education and proposal for next phase.
